Little Crystal’s Day Nursery

Hi, my name is Donna, I am the Manager at Little Crystals Day Nursery. We are a 26 place Day Nursery in Upper Norwood, SE19. Following our last Inspection OFSTED said "Children are ready to try new experiences at every stage as they move on in the Nursery and are well prepared to move on to school."

Little Crystals Day Nursery is housed on the ground floor of a semi-detached house, situated in Upper Norwood and consists of 3 group rooms. There is a baby room catering for six children from three months to two years, a two to three year old’s room which can take six children and a pre-school area catering for eight children from two to five years. The over two’s have their own bathroom and the baby room has it’s own nappy changing facilities. There is also an office/staff room and outside there is a pleasant sized secure nursery garden which is partly laid with safety surfacing. The kitchen is well equipped and fresh food is prepared daily by our nursery cook.

Seven qualified and experienced staff care for the twenty children that attend Little Crystal’s Day Nursery. The staff are led by Geraldine DeCaestecker, the Nursery Manager and her Assistant Manager Maya Gregory. The staff at Little Crystal’s Day Nursery are supported by the nursery cook, the nursery housekeeper, and the maintenance officer. Management, Human Resources and curriculum issues are supported by Director Lorraine Duffy. Director Paul Duffy oversees management and finance issues supported by our administration and accounts assistant Dianne Russell.

Little Crystal’s Day Nursery is open 50 weeks a year, 5 days a week from 8am to 6pm.

Children have access to three playrooms, toilets and a secure outdoor play area. The nursery is open five days a week for 50 weeks a year. The nursery is registered on the Early Years Register. The nursery is registered to care for 20 children aged under eight years; of these no more than six may be aged under two years at any one time. Six staff work directly with the children. Additional visiting staffs provide opportunities for the children to participate in French lessons and football. The group is a member of the National Day Nursery Association.
